Interior Design in Bath

Brief

Interior Design in BathTo redesign 2 bedrooms in a Georgian cottage where lack of storage was a problem. The fireplaces in both bedrooms needed to be refurbished. The client wanted 2 bedspreads bought in India to be used as the inspiration for the design.

Considerations

Both bedrooms were relatively small with sash windows and inefficient heating. The master bedroom had a badly designed built-in cupboard and inadequate shelving.

Solution

  • Both rooms were painted the same colour to create a feeling of continuity and space. The neutral colour worked as a backdrop to enhance the client's collection of artefacts from around the world and to emphasise the beautiful colours in the bedspreads.
  • The built-in wardrobe and shelving were removed and existing pine furniture was painted the same colour as the walls and then distressed.
  • Lighting was upgraded to provide task and ambient lighting.
  • The carpet was removed and the floorboards refurbished.
